What's the difference between this and the 4 collector's choice volumes?

I believe the vault compilations are more mainstream and the collectors choice sets were focused on the lesser known cartoons. Warner's naming choices are confusing.

I think the titles of the discs say it all - this focuses on shorts never issued on physical media and shorts that haven't had HD upgrades. I've seen every single one of those Bugs Bunny cartoons repeatedly on television, and it's pretty amazing it's taken this long for them to get upgraded or even mastered to physical disc. (Granted I haven't regularly watched cartoons via television broadcasts in about 20 years, so maybe they've become rare in the interim!)

The only difference between the vault and the collector’s choice is that vault comes with a second disc of shorts “making their HD debut”, while collector’s choice contained one disc of “never before on disc” shorts. In other words, vault is the continuation of collectors choice with an added disc of shorts that were previously dvd only.

Only on their animated releases.

Just popped the recent Archives Blu of Rhapsody in Blue in and it opens with a non-skippable content disclaimer for “ethnic, racial, gender, and other stereotypes”. I wonder what child was going to sit down for a three hour Joan Leslie musical, but at least they’re protected

Re non skippable disclaimers: different release but I was able to fast forward through the disclaimer on the Tom and Jerry discs.

There's a new Extras podcast that's 2025 in review, I'm only partway through but here's a few notes:
-George says there's over 100 feature films currently in the works, not counting TV or animation titles which will continue. He states that a lot of exciting things will also be coming from partner labels.
-There will be more animation titles in 2026 than 2025.
-There will be more film noir in 2026 than 2025.
-George sees wishlists on forums like these and he says that roughly 60-70% of almost any given wishlist are in the pipeline and that the "recognition factor" of titles will go up, but that there will also continue to be deep cut titles.

Regret to inform the board that I didn't care for Stranger on the Third Floor. I'm pretty liberal with throwing "noir" around, but, uh, this isn't one for me even if I liked it. It feels too much like a sloppy dip from the German Expressionism well instead of exhibiting a style influenced by German Expressionism. And the difference is all the difference. I thought the film briefly had a good idea with the absurd self-directed obsession over being falsely accused, but it drops that tack pretty quickly and makes his fears somewhat accurate to no great effect. Meh. I like Lorre in general fine, but I'm not seeing what everyone is jizzing over here with regards to his performance either.

Haven’t seen the Tarzan sequel but I did enjoy the first one more than I expected and it looks like this has the same team, so I’m intrigued

Stranger on the Third Floor: Slight early proto-noir that's comprised of relatively low-stakes, rote activity, elevated only by Lorre's creepy perf - particularly when awkwardly meshing with Margaret Tallichet's socially-intelligent ingenue anxiously entertaining his eccentricities in their tense walk that marks the finale. I enjoyed that sequence far more than any other showy or dramatic turn, and its crowning resolve is so anticlimactic that it feels like a conscious gag of deus ex machina. Regardless, this doesn't amount to much and I've already forgotten the movie preceding its end.

I’ve been hoping for Tarzan and His Mate. I think it is better than the first one and it is one of my favorite pre-code movies. A guilty pleasure.
