I like digipaks but I rarely received them in good condition. Since the main complaint here seems to be about crunched corners,
maybe it would be a good idea for criterion to add some sort of protective plastic corners held by the plastic wrapping.

Criteriondvd says the Rohmer box has been fixed. Yeah, after many of us got the set.

Edit: So is the moral of the story 'Don't buy anything from the cc until its been released a few months so that they can sort out any cock-ups in the initial run?'. The box should never have been released when it was so clearly a bodge job, but they should at least have stuck to their guns rather than releasing a fix which leaves their most dedicated pre-order customers with crappy packaging for one of their most major releases.

They seem determined to antagonize us all this year.

Perhaps it explains a few of their past delays...

now you can look for the botched boxed copies to appear for rediculous prices on ebay... "hey, is it the first pressing?"

Blue Underground was good enough to send out free new outer boxes for their Mondo Cane set when the first batch proved unsatisfactory. Perhaps Criterion would follow their lead?

Of course, best of luck getting a response from Matt Lipson et al. When "Mulvaney" was running the show, you'd always get a response even if it was a non-response. Now, who knows if you'll even get an answer?

But do we know for sure that the boxes have been fixed? Without evidence other than "Criteriondvd says," I'm skeptical.

the box was too big for the discs and booklets.

anybody let us know if you're successful in getting a response from criterion as to whether they'll be replacing any boxes.

So now they have a replacement email address on their site.
What's the deal? How do we prove we have the set? Send the old box? receipt? And hopefully they ship replacements overseas.

I sent them an email with my address, but it looks like Mulvaney was in charge, which means we'll never hear back.

By the way, I took a nap this afternoon and had a dream where Peter Becker's email was [email protected]. They were also releasing two Godard films that came out around the time of Breathless and were starring Robert Redford. I told everyone I had seen them and that they weren't as good as Breathless, but they're still worth seeing for the formal experiments. Then I was on the set of the movie and Redford had me beat in a game of Omaha. But yeah, I assume you should email them with your address.

Bah, since when do they put those little face icons on the spine? I've never cared for them on regular DVDs, and I certainly don't want them here.

I got the 'short cuts' dvd. The box was crushed and the plastic of the digipak was smashed.

I emailed Criterion about it and they said that they would send another.
Then it seems they realised I was from Australia and asked if I knew someone from the US that could send it on.
Then when I didn't, they said that they couldn't send outside the country because of copyright.
Then when I pointed out that I was only asking for the case, they said that I could pick up an amary, and they suggested stores.
Then when I pointed out again that it was a digipak and sent a photo they said that they probably don't have stock of it around, but would look and get back to me.
Then- nothing.

I'm going to e-mail amazon and see if they can send another.

The moral: digipaks can be really annoying.

Amazon will replace any damaged DVD with no hassles. You should check with your e-tailer first (straight away) before even bothering with Criterion. I've had a few damaged arrivals replaced from numerous e-tailers, and I live in Australia too.
