There's one scene in particular that was almost certainly responsible for the 18 certificate on its own! Without going into spoilerific detail, let's say that sand and salt water are pressed into service during it.Finch wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 7:59 pm I've only seen it once or twice decades ago but I don't remember it being gory or very violent so I'm surprised the BBFC still rated it 18. Unless the overall rating got pushed up by something in the extras.
And I made a point of watching it with the Dylan Cheung subtitles, and greatly appreciated them. It was probably wise of Arrow to offer an alternative, as some people won't be able to get over the initial cognitive dissonance of seeing such obviously "English" (and indeed Scottish!) regional accents in the context of a largely Cantonese-speaking film that takes place on the other side of the planet, but I completely get that the intention was to convey sociological nuances that more smoothed-out subtitles wouldn't have been able to manage—for instance, the clear class distinctions between the three female leads, which wasn't at all apparent on my previous viewing.
