I may be incorrect. I swore the notes said Sony, but Image restoration is credited to Silver Salt Restoration, London. Could have mixed it up due to Sony being the licensor.

It says image restoration was done by Silver Salt and audio restoration done by Criterion, and that the supervisors were Lee Kline and Giles Sherwood.

Yep, so I noted it down incorrectly, yet correctly noted the use of the negative and interpositive and Terry Gilliam supervising (though didn't mention this last part).

I wonder if this the first time that Criterion have done a restoration for a Sony-owned title.

It is owned by Handmade Films, right? It was their first film, so maybe there's more to it, but I'm guessing Sony just has distribution rights in North America. The rights for this one were always weird because Criterion's DVD stayed in print for a long time, even after Sony was releasing their own editions.

I just checked the back of the case and it says that it'd under exclusive license from Sony. Though oddly it doesn't have a picture of the Sony logo.
