Hmm, I've long considered this movie to be the worst I've ever watched in a cinema, but oddly the Letterboxd reviews range from average to positive. Looks like I may have to revisit this at some point. If it turns out this isn't the worst, then FearDotCom may take that crown.

I mean I haven’t seen this since it came out but I thought it was okay for a gimmick movie, but not anything I ever need to see again

Yeah, okay with a silly gimmick is a good descriptor.

I'm with Swift, I wanted my money back when the twist was revealed. It's the cinematic equivalent of someone laboriously recounting last night's dream to you, an experience that only has meaning for them.

The Mangold/Liotta film I'd like someone to put out is Cop Land

In active development as a TV series now, so it probably will happen

Feardotcom is a cinematic atrocity on every level. Identity just sucks. The build up is fine, interesting even, but the twist/gimmick just ruins everything that came before.

It didn't help that Charlie Kaufman had already used the same gimmick idea to lampoon mainstream cinema's penchant for absurd psychological twists the year before in Adaptation.
