If not now, then when? I can never remember — has there been any solid speculation for this, or does it just seem like a soft inevitability?

This is the likely next rumored Scorsese, right?

It has to be. For the longest time, several Scorsese titles seemed to be in the mix for a release. I've heard zero rumors about any other titles.

My only hope is that they split the two titles into two separate releases, but something tells me that they won't.

That would be a fantastic choice. Sony never upgraded from their DVD and I imported the English-friendly BD from Spain (the film itself has subs).

Salo does probably sell better than the trilogy, but wouldn’t the trilogy benefit most from an upgrade?

I suspect that both Cape Fear ‘62 & ‘91, as ‘horror’ classics, are being saved for Halloween/ October.

With Flower Moon and Alice already announced, what's to suggest a third Scorsese in one calendar year? (Outside of the TV show remake)

Exactly that. Criterion released Kurosawa's High and Low last year when the Spike Lee remake debuted on Apple TV+, so...

I even hope for the fouth one, The Color of Money, celebrating its 40th anniversary with the 4K restoration screening at the Il Cinema Ritrovato Film Festival later this month.

Are there any specific indicators regarding a release of Empire of the Sun or is it just wishful thinking?

I was wondering as well. I think it’s a long hoped-for WB pick-up. The Sugarland Express, having just gotten a 4K restoration, is the Spielberg I’d put money on.

I would really love to see the longer cut of Empire of the Sun that he prepped, assuming it still exists

Los Olvidados
Wild at Heart 4K
John Schlesinger and Julie Christie’s Swinging Sixties box set including Billy Liar, Darling, and Far From the Madding Crowd
Days and Nights in the Forest 4K
K-Pop Demon Hunters 4K
The Other Side of the Wind 4K (I just have a feeling if Criterion is doing the biggest Netflix title they probably got this)

I think the Kubrick box set is not gonna be announced until later in the month/early July. However, with Le Notti Bianche and Bellissima having new restorations touring, and Rocco and His Brothers getting a new 4K from BFI, I wonder if we will be getting an early Visconti box set in the near future?

Isn't there a Universal 4K edition already? Or has there been a newer restoration in circulation?

Yes indeed, I have it here in my cold dead hands.

It would be a waste of a release slot if Criterion put it out.

Doesn't the current 4K have DNR/AI issues?

I dont know when this happened (someone pointed it out yesterday at the Blu-ray.com forum), Criterion's website now has Le Notti Blanche listed under the title White Nights.

My favorite Almodóvar. Saw it in the theater and haven't seen it since. Seems a safe bet that Criterion will get it eventually. They need to rescue Carne Trémula as well.

Most of of my wishes/guesses every month are great films (imo) that have never had a good release in the States.
