Did you order from Orbit? I did, got it yesterday, didn't even open it and I am sending it back tomorrow for store credit. Yes, I have to cover return costs but I prefer that to trying to sell on eBay.

Sorry I meant the Day 4K since you had buyers remorse about that disc like I did.

Oh, oops. I ordered from Gruv (so I could use the extra 15% off for a first purchase code.) Too late, anyway, as I already opened the damned thing. I'll just live with it until somethng better comes along.

The Arrival (Lionsgate) - terrible compression
Click (Sony) - terrible compression
The Boys in the Band (VS / Cinematographe) - caps
Mortal Kombat (Arrow) - caps

Oof, that's an absolute garbage of an encode.

Sadly that’s par the course for whoever does their MOD titles. I imagine it’s Allied Vaughn as they’re taking care of the manufacturing and distribution as well. The BDInfo stats suggest that they’re often, if not always encoding these with an overall bitrate that targets a specific value instead of any sort of optimization. The one, virtually worthless saving grace is that they’re avoiding the filtering that Sony’s in-house team applies to their encodes.

That is possible as a different colorist than VS’ usual guy worked on this. Maybe they even received the master from Paramount.

Why are the WB UHDs of 2001 and The Shining still in the red column? Aren’t those acknowledged to be flawed, due to color grading issues(the “Nolan restoration”) in the case of the former and audio and AR issues with respect to the latter?

I thought it was extensively confirmed that the Nolan timing wasn't actually present on the home video releases.

Because I actually have a life outside of these forums and sometimes have more pressing things to look after than editing the list for absolutely every minute detail?

I'll amend the OP list when the CC set is out.

Thank you for your reply, Finch! I felt offended by that comment too.

50 First Dates (Sony) - caps. Another Sony MOD title released at the same and yet a complete turnaround with the encode.

Looks like SOMEBODY doesn’t have their priorities in order! Maybe we should give this responsibility to someone else who isn’t so obsessed about having a “life”?

Since the thread is essentially a cowd-sourcing project is it possible to give 2 or 3 people editing powers who then communicate amongst themselves on making the actual changes to the list, easing the burden on any one individual?

I don't think editing the list(s) is the issue - at least for me. It's the need to do research and compile the essentials for this thread that takes up all the time.

What nicholas said. I figure hearthesilence was being ironic but if a third person wants to join me and nicholas in researching feedback as it becomes available then that's fine. Otherwise, we'd just ask for your patience as it's time consuming enough to keep this list updated with new discs, never mind updating the status of old discs where flaws sometimes aren't discovered weeks or months after release and which would require us looking through threads for these discs to find these reports. Which is more tedious than some of you might think it is when the actual information is buried under pages and pages of shipping updates and ill-informed rants.

Ok sorry guys. I didn’t intend for that comment to be antagonistic or accusatory. I just was asking a question. Sorry if it came off differently than intended.

Clearly nicholas and I read it the opposite way, chastising us for why we still hadn't updated the list. Are we getting piled on now for that?

The Pornographers (Radiance)

Nicholas briefly mentioned the disc in the other forum's Radiance thread.

The Pornographers is a great disc. I wanted to post in the release thread as well and post it here once I’m able to open the disc for screenshots. The master is SDR with fine grain, a beautiful grayscale and excellent audio. I’m not sure if this was communicated here but Radiance actually did the restoration. The BD is very good too but I noticed a nice uptick in fine detail when I checked the 4K afterwards. The Tony Rayns interview runs 47 minutes and is a career overview.
