Haven’t seen any official articles yet, but Ingrid Carlberg on X/Twitter announced that Liv Ullmann had passed away.

If true a great loss

I would assume Carlberg is telling the truth, I don’t see any reason she would say otherwise unless given faulty information.

That post came ten hours ago, so it is indeed strange that news hasn't spread elsewhere. Maybe the family wants the media to hold off for the moment, but then I wonder why Carlberg went ahead and broke the news?

Hugues Peysson (a family friend of hers) and Dheeraj Akolkar (director of her documentary, Liv Ullman - A Road Less Travelled) state that this is misinformation and her family has confirmed this is fake news.

That clinches it, but FWIW I dug a little more - Carlberg has an official website, and it has social media links on it. The Twitter (or "X" blech) link goes to a different account. The one with the misinformation is an account that opened back in October, and it looks fake for a variety of other reasons.

Maybe someone here knows how to get a fake account taken down, but some public figures with a lot of followers are re-sharing that fake post, and as long as it stays up, I think there's going to be continued confusion.

Dominque Frot, 68, French actress (sister of Catherine): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominique_Frot

The film I always remember her the most from was Larry Clark's The Smell of Us (2014). She also appeared in Inside (2007), The Father of My Children (2009) & Titane (2021) amongst others.

FWIW, that fake Ingrid Carlberg account posted an admission that it was a fake account created by Tommaso Debenedetti. He has a history of perpetuating death hoaxes, allegedly to prove how easily fake news can be created through social media.

John Crowley, a wonderful writer who forged his own unique path in fantasy, crafting genuine works of literature. His Aegypt quartet is one of the most original and beguiling works of fantastic fiction I’ve ever read. And I don’t know anyone who’s read his novel Little, Big and wasn’t enthralled with it. He never got the acclaim or popularity he deserved. I hold out hope that the Library of America reissues his books.
