God, I certainly hope this is true but we've become accustomed to getting yanked around by these announcements. If this actually gets a release I'll be amazed....

Oh, and thrilled.

I agree. I'll believe it when I see it but hey, at least it looks like Season 2 of the show is finally getting in gear and Angelo Badalamenti's gonna release a new soundtrack.

I wonder what turned Lynch around on including deleted scenes for FWWM? From what I undersood, these would never see the light of day. What's next? Chapter stops?

He wanted to include deleted scenes from FWWM for a long time after Jack Nance passed away since he was in many of them. It's the producers who he had problems with to include it.

Note that he does NOT want to put these scenes back into the film -- his longstanding intention is to make the scenes available as a separate supplement only. Lynch making available an "alternate version" of any of his movies would indeed be weirder than weird.

Although bear in mind that at one of his TM lectures he recently, albeit very briefly, broke an even more longstanding tradition and actually directly responded to an interpretive question about one of his movies -- (I'm paraphrasing here -- see Wrapped in Plastic #75) Audience member: "Does the Mystery Man's house exist between space and time?" Lynch: "Yes." Also I recently heard, without being able to verify it, that he had even been persuaded of the usefulness of chapter stops. So it sounds like he might be softening up in some ways.

Coming to German January 4th. Part one of two.
Should we expect the same release at the same time in region-1-land?

Because it's never too early to bitch: they're splitting season two in half? What the fuck, people? This means we can expect volume 2.2 in what, 2018?

It's quite understandable and to be expected, really. The second season had 29 episodes in total of roughly 50 minutes each. They're splitting the season so as not to escalate on the prices. Fine by me.

But I think it has also been mentioned that there will be a package containing both parts of the second season in one set. So, all you have to do is wait.

Actually, there were only 30 episodes total: 8 in the first (including the pilot) and 22 in the second. You are right, though, that a 'complete' set is being released relatively soon after the first. Complete Mystery

I thought Paramount was also going to release Season One with the Pilot. I was hoping for a set with everything. And I didn't want to wait for it.

From DavisDVD:
Paramount Home Entertainment has finally revealed artwork and a release date for their upcoming and highly anticipated release of the second and final season of "Twin Peaks." Newly posted listings by several Region 2 online retailers reveal that Twin Peaks: Season Two will be split into two halves, with the first three-disc boxed set due on January 31st, 2007 (happy birthday to me!) and the final half of the series due in April 2007. No official details have been released quite yet, but we do know that the episodes have been completely remastered by David Lynch with new high definition fullscreen transfers and remixed 5.1 tracks (possibly DTS). In the meantime, Amazon Germany has posted a first look at the packaging for the set.

It also appears, via Amazon Germany, that a Twin Peaks: the Complete Mystery is due in October 2007. Whether this the complete first two seasons combined together - including a high-def remastered pilot episode that was missing from Artisan's 2001 box set - is as yet unknown. Stay tuned.

A new rumor, supposedly from Paramount, confirms April plans for R1, as well.

Here are some screenshots from the upcoming German DVD. Paramount has confirmed that the North American Region 1 release will not be split up into 2 sets like this German one.

Great quality of course, no surprise there. I also assume (probably incorrectly) that Paramount will just release a COMPLETE TWIN PEAKS box with the pilot at some point.

A little bit of an update from TVShowsonDVD:
We're still waiting on the official announcement for the second season of Twin Peaks, but Paramount has already announced it for region 2, and they're releasing it in two volumes. We checked with some retail friends, and we were told region 1 will receive the entire season on 6 discs.

Special features will include:

Interviews
Featurettes
Audio Commentaries
Episode Introductions

The set is still on track for release April 10, 2007

Now I'm regretting selling my first season. You think it will come out after season two?

I've read that Paramount intends to release the entire first season as well with the Pilot in a box. I wouldn't worry just yet, I would wait until more info comes. keep in mind we're talking April here.
