It's only the introduction of the coolest Spidey villain on the block.

It's hard to picture Topher Grace as the teeth-gnashing, fire-breathing type, or maybe just a villain in general. I dunno, is Eddie Brock supposed to be a nice guy sans black liquid? Then all the venom can be taken care of with CGI. The teaser trailer looks good, but I wish more Hollywood blockbusters didn't take themselves too seriously.

Venom would be pretty difficult to do without CGI unless they're doing an extensive reimagining of the character. Personally I hope Venom doesn't even appear, except maybe a short teaser at the very end -- having him in the film would give us three villains (Sandman and Hobgoblin/Green Goblin II are pretty definite at this point) and I think it would work better to do the alien costume story in part 3 and save Venom for the next one.

Or maybe even throw in the Lizard in the next film. After all they intro'd Dr. Connors in the second film. I think they're gonna use the whole alien costume thing to do the whole inner demon thing with Peter Parker as if he didn't have enough to grapple with in previous films.Monsieur Verdoux wrote:Maybe Venom will only play a small part in this film, and possibly become a major influence in 4th chapter later on in the series. I'm guessing they want to start to introduce him now and develop him in the next. I think anyways.

I actually wish the black costume was actually solid black with the gigantic white spider as it was in the comic book, rather than just a black version of the regular costume as it is in the film. I guess the solid black wouldn't show up very well on film.Doctor Sunshine wrote:It's only the introduction of the coolest Spidey villain on the block.

'Spider-Man' Cast Called Back for Reshoots
Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco are being called back to the set of Spider-Man 3 for re-shoots, after test audiences complained the movie was lacking in "action." Franco, who plays Spider-man's alter-ego Peter Parker's troubled friend Harry Osborn in the superhero movies, has just finished filming comedy drama Camille with Sienna Miller. He tells MTV, "The next thing I'm shooting? Re-shoots on Spider-Man... Probably next month. Director Sam Raimi wants more action." The sequel also features Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard and Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church in new roles.

Did you think before you posted that?jon wrote:Is it going to be just a trilogy? I hate it when series go past three. If not, I would hope Raimi pulls out after this and finds something else to do, like Evil Dead 4.
"Hey Raimi, Keep the Spidey movies to a trilogy, I hate it when there's more than three. Oh yeah, remember that shitty trilogy you made back in the day about Ash? that could use a sequel."

It was a joke. I guess sarcasm can't be easily implied over the internet, but i did italicize the "4" in Evil Dead 4 in an attempt to emphasize the fact that I knew what I was typing. In the future, please refrain from being so vitriolic in your impersonations of me, at least when they are undeserved.

A different trailer has surfaced on You Tube, allegedly the one shown at comic con. It's unfinished but superior to the released version on every level. Check it out. Oh, and unlike the released version, this one includes brief shots of Venom!

I completely forgot about this until a few minutes ago. My God! Does anybody else remember it? The web alone warrants a DVD release.
And in case you're wondering what the main titles were like...
