There's diffuculties with a Rossellini WAR TRILOGY in accessing satisfactory source elements, I believe... Was reason bfi cited re. possibilty of same package on r2 dvd by them...
More likely is a STROMBOLI/VOYAGE IN ITALY/EUROPA 51/FEAR set, although that is pure speculation... All we know is that EUROPA 51 is on the cards...

The following page suggests that a French DVD was released, or at least planned, by Rene Chateau Video:Gordon McMurphy wrote:There must be a red tape with Le Silence de la mer, as it isn't even on DVD in France, which is staggering, yet the recent TV version is on DVD - boo!

They even include the price for it.

Being Rene Chateau, it's just as likely that it was released, then withdrawn a few months later. They seem to do that with a fair number of their titles. Something to do with their licensing agreement, I suppose.
Here, in fact, is an internet posting from someone who bought the DVD, and is complaining about the lack of French subtitles in the German-speaking scenes:

Well White Dog, Run of the Arrow, Merrill's Marauders, Underworld USA, Fixed Bayonets, I shot Jesse James, and The Steel Helmet are pretty urgent to me.rollotomassi wrote:FULLER...nothing urgent
I heard Jesse James and Steel Helmet are to be released by Criterion. That's great.
Actually I think it's being released in 2006, by Warner (just as all pre-1986 MGM titles, which now belong to Ted Turner).rollotomassi wrote:MANKIEWICZ...Julius Caesar, but an MGM so unlikely.
I'd be really happy if Warner also releases There was a crooked man... uncut ! Because each time this movie is aired on French TV, the naked lady at the end gets less and less naked...
Just like stroszeck said, we need City of hope.rollotomassi wrote:SAYLES...nothing really here.

2 or 3 Things I Know About Her will eventually be released by Criterion on DVD after Rialto is done with their re-release, which I believe was originally scheduled for the end of the year, but has probably been bumped into next year. I'd say it could be a possibility in late 2006, or maybe as a January issue in 2007. They also have Pierrot in the works.JusteLeblanc wrote:But why not the R2 only titles as well? 2 or 3 Things...

Take away one spine number for the box itself. If it is in fact a box set, it'll be a four-filmer.cinephrenic wrote:Ok folks, Viridiana is strangly spine #322, which leaves 5 empty spaces. Now tell that this isn't a box set coming? Eisenstein, Ozu, Malle probably?

I think that this is the most likely scenario.gigimonagas wrote:It could also be a Sam Fuller box set featuring I Shot Jesse James, The Baron of Arizona, and The Steel Helmet.
I'm guessing:
327 - Samuel Fuller Box Set
328 - I Shot Jesse James
329 - The Baron of Arizona
330 - The Steel Helmet
331 - The Typewriter, the Rifle & the Movie Camera (BFI doc)
