The critics may have been odd, but the list seems very familiar.

And yes, while it's no Fantastic Mr. Fox, I'd welcome Jules and Jim as well.

How great would THAT be? I would love such a release but alas I believe a lot of the Hitchcock 9 reside with StudioCanal.

I thought they were going to offer some of the films on Hulu+? I seem to recall this being announced several months ago (Although, I see only Foreign Correspondent is available at present).

Not going to happen. The Hitchcock 9 are Studio Canal titles. The only silent ITV has is The Lodger.

Aren't The Pleasure Garden, Downhill, and Easy Virtue also not with Studio Canal? I've no clue who they're with, but being put into a bigger set with The Lodger or the other silents is probably their only chance of seeing a non-PD release stateside.

I believe what you may be referring to is that Criterion released iTunes digital versions of Sabotage and Young and Innocent (I suppose either of these might show up on Blu-Ray at some point or in a possible Eclipse set). Neither is part of the Hitchcock 9 though.

iTV owns The Pleasure Garden, The Lodger, Downhill, and Easy Virtue. StudioCanal owns The Farmer's Wife, The Ring, Blackmail (both cuts), The Manxman, and Champagne.

I would absolutely cream myself if the announcement includes The Tales of Hoffmann and/or I Know Where I'm Going!

I think Tales of Hoffmann would probably the most exciting out all the things suggested, if for no other reason that it would signal a return of the StudioCanal titles. Unfortunately, I think that's probably just a pipe dream.

I'm personally hoping for:

Foreign Correspondent
Testament of Dr. Mabuse (upgrade)
Any other Hitchcock or Lang title
A Jacques Tati Box set

But I imagine a Picnic at Hanging Rock Blu upgrade is a good bet considering the Valentine's day connection.

Beyond excited to hear anyone mention or even imply that Maelstrom could end up with Criterion. This is probably far beyond the realm of possibility -- I just really like Villeneuve's early stuff (and, hey, I guess he's kind of prominent now).
