Damn. Didn't even occur to me there'd be another company that would release them. I'll have to go check that release out.

movielocke, I'll see your craziness and raise it to dementia.

Persona
Mulholland Drive.....Just like CC to release four chicks with some issues and personality reversals.
EraserHead
Parade (Tati) CC starts to roll the Tatis back out. This one is restored and currently playing at the Grand Lyon FF.
La Strada because Fellini is so due
Forever and a Day (a phantom page thing)

But I suck at guessing ...

I would be fascinated to know what "restored" means in regards to a film like Parade. They fixed a tracking problem on the Umatic tape?

Nanook recently went blu via Flicker Alley. Would CC double dip like that?
Discussed starting here. (Clearly there's been a slight delay at the least.)

Why The King of Comedy? It has been strongly suggested to be coming from Fox?

It was suppose to be solicited and released for October 29th but nothing ever came of that. There's still no ETA on it. Maybe FOX decided to just let Criterion have it.

I'm looking, looking and looking ... into a crystal ball and see ... Criterion making Naruse fans very happy with their releases of:

- Three Films by Mikio Naruse: Floating Clouds, Sound of the Mountain, and Scattered Clouds
- Lola (Demy)
- The French Lieutenant's Woman

- Upgrades of Mouchette and Au Hasard Balthazar

Now, that would be a very happy Valentine's month indeed.

That would be great. I was also wondering why any announcement about this film's release has been delayed. Maybe Scorsese convinced Fox to let CC release.

Who knows? Maybe FOX still plans to release The King of Comedy themselves but it's worth pointing out that they were also supposedly releasing a blu of Murnau's Sunrise for November. That's another title that never materialized. If they are planning to release either this year as rumored they are sure leaving the solicitations to the last minute.

It's coming from Fox in December.
