Hi there,
I'm a big fan of this movie. Why isn't it on DVD yet?

Re: Blanche (Borowzcyk)
My understanding is that there are complex rights issues holding up Blanche and Docteur Jekyll - the latter in particular seems to be in a real tangle.

Borowczyk in general takes me back to the 80s when I used to haunt the Scala in London. Ever go there, Michael? Jekyll was a title that I never did catch up with, though I think I read in a recent Sight & Sound that you rate it highly, no?

Re: Blanche (Borowzcyk)
Very highly - it's the best thing he did in his last decade by a fair distance.
I'd love a decent DVD - so far, I've only seen it in dubbed English (though I rather like the cod-Victorian dialogue, and would certainly want an English option on a DVD alongside the original French), and have had to put up with a Godawful pirate VHS to see the bits missing from my legitimate but censored VHS version. But I understand there are problems with it dating right back to a dispute between Borowczyk and the producers at the time of production, which may well be why the film's always been pretty elusive.
And I practically lived at the Scala in the 1980s.
