It's also showing at the BFI London with 'Le Lion Volatil', on the 17th and 22nd of May.

The BFI are showing most of Varda's films in May, including a Q&A with Varda after a screening of 'Jane B par Agnes V' and '7p., cuis., deb., .. a Saisir'.

Varda is also doing a talk before the screening of her 'screen epiphany' 'Armarcord'

Confirmed in the latest Second Run newsletter. Would make sense to be put alongside its 'sister' film Jane B par Agnes V. so maybe Second Run will come up with that too. Depending on any other extras it will be interesting to compare this edition with the eventual release in the Coffret Intégrale from Tamaris later this year.

Does that have a definite release date now? I haven't seen an update on it in a while.

I got an e-mail from Tamaris a couple of months back saying it would be out in late 2010. So no firm firm date yet.

It will be later this year we hope.
It WAS schedued for June, but Varda herself is preparing a new master so we decided it would be best to put it on hold until we have that new version.

Any news on this as Tamaris seems to have gone quiet too. Would you be doing Jane B as well?

Any news on this? Given how long this title has been in limbo, I'm getting a little worried.

The knock-on effect from the Sony fire forced a shift to all our planned new releases by a month or two. It means that Kung Fu Master will now have to appear in early 2012 rather than later this year as we originally hoped. On a positive note, the forced delay could allow us more time to work a little further on the material with Ms Varda. Please bear with us a little longer and we will announce final details in due course.

Bumping Bikey!! Is this a no show now in light of the Arte box set or do you still have plans to come up with something extra like you hinted?

Apologies Nabob of Nowhere.
In response to your Varda query... we are glad to see Kung Fu Master! out in the French box set, and were happy for it be used first in her personal box set project. It will be revisited by us, depending on her wishes, in the coming year.

Excellent news. I hope you can add some extra titbits to make it a worthwhile double dip purchase as well as keeping Kauno chatting and dancing in the midnight sun.

It's hard to imagine what extra tidbits SecondRun could think of that Agnes hasn't already thought of, but it would be nice if this film could be coupled with its companion Jane B. par Agnes V. doc.

In terms of Varda tidbits that even owners of the set would lap up, how about a release of Nausicaa with English subs? I understand that it's kind of an 'Easter Egg' in the box, but it's still a fascinating film that could do with more exposure.

FYI: Mubi has posted a lovely transfer of Kung-Fu Master to their streaming service. Watched it on my TV via Apple TV and it looked and sounded great.

Now that Criterion's announced this as part of their "complete Varda" boxset, I wonder if SR is still planning on releasing this.

Considering they were "revisiting" it seven years ago, I would be ... somewhat surprised if that were the case, Criterion set or no!

If Criterion can't release their set in the UK, I dont see why Second Run couldnt do a release in the UK.
