Wasn't there a book featuring paintings in film..? I recall it being mentioned, but don't know when, where or what it was called...

EDIT: Found it! The Dark Galleries, paintings in noir films.

I would like to know if - and how many - of these paintings survive in various collections.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is in the Art Institute of Chicago.

(Also, the look-like-real-physical-objects - often books - that were used to display the credits on dozens of films in the 40s-60s. Did they exist? Do they still?)

I have this book and may have recommended it in the past. It’s structured like an art exhibit program, though everything is in black and white

That seems probable. Does it give current sources of the works included, or is it screenshot images?
