Billy Budd (1962)
Amazon listing. From the notorious Allied Artists Films, who have nowt to do with the defunct studio.

Unfortunately, it is a DVD to AVOID:
HTF thread

As I said in the HTF thread: maddening. I missed those widescreen presentations on Sky, so a DVD release of that transfer would give me great pleasure.

Ach, what a pity. I have wanted to see this again for the longest time. As I recall it was a very compact, emotionally charged film with a remarkably intelligent screenplay, terrific cinematography by Robert Krasker (The Third Man, Odd Man Out), and some very memorable performances.
