Has anyone watched the DVD set 'The Buser Keaton Chronicles' from Network, I was wondering whether to buy it. I already have the 5 disc set from Stonevision, and the transfers seem to be OK on that, but Im sure they could be improved upon. Besides, so many great films for £30! If the prints are good then it would definately be worth buying, probably selling the Stonevision set.
I'd be particularly interested to hear of anyone who has seen both the Network set and any of the Stonevision DVDs, thanks!

Well, you can get Network's set cheaper than £30. I bought a copy from Play last week for £16-99.

So far as the transfers are concerned, I've only watched the first two shorts on the first disc (One Week and Convict 13) and they leave a lot to be desired, to say the very least. However, my real reason for picking the set up is for the Thames Silents versions of Our Hospitality, and The General, each complete with Carl Davis' score. The transfers here, while not what you'd expect for a 21st century digital restoration, are perfectly good.

I've not seen the Stonevision set but, if you don't care for the Thames restorations you'd likely be better off waiting for the The Complete Buster Keaton Short Films, 1917 - 1923 from Masters of Cinema, which is due in the next few months. On the other hand, £16-99 isn't bad value for the Network set, to tide you over till the MoS one arrives.
