Great to see The Snows Of Kilimanjaro rescued from Public Domain Hell. Kudos, Fox. I wish that great PD films were rescued more often.

Yes, the public domain version of this looked awful, so this is good news. And as a side note, this film has a terrific Bernard Herrmann score.

How is the adaptation of "A Farewell to Arms?"

The '57 version is fairly mediocre, unfortunately. Nowhere as interesting as Borzage's '32 version.

Snows, Sun Also Rises, and even Adventures of a Young Man (based on a variety of loosely-connected short stories) are quite interesting, though. Adventures also boasts a strong score -- this time by Franz Waxman.

Under My Skin is completely unkown to me. I don't think I'm even familiar with the story it's based on.

Still trying to dig out information on "Under my Skin", with limited results. It is from 1950, stars John Garfield in a story about horse racing and racketeering, and is based on one of Hemingway's earliest short stories - "My Old Man", first published in 1923. Love John Garfield, love the short stories, but since no one has ever heard of this movie, and since the other titles do not impress (as movies), I have the feeling that the bell may be tolling for this set.

This set is shaping up to be one of the best of the year and I'm afraid it will sadly go unnoticed mostly due to Fox's own lack of internet support for it. Here are DVDBeaver's reviews and comparisons for two of the titles in it: The Snows of Kilimanjaro and The Sun Also Rises.

As you can see, the caps look gorgeous and there's plenty of bonus materials stacked inside the discs too. Take a look at the set's back cover below:

And now, the one for Sun Also Rises:

Has anyone bought this? Are the individual discs packaged in slim line cases?

Somebody tell me if Under My Skin is any good - never heard of it, but I love John Garfield (who wouldn't).
