Flight of the Conchords

So now that it's available for pre-order, I can finally ask... Is anyone else here as obsessed with these guys as I am?

Shouldn't this go in the TV on DVD thread?

I saw them at Bonnaroo and they were hilarious, but I saw them doing the same skits on the tv show and they seemed, well, nowhere near as funny. I might have just seen a bad skit, but they came off a lot more real live.

I think that all of their songs are great, just some are better fitted to tv, and some are better fitted as live performance.

for example, when I saw the live performance of "she's so hot... BOOM!" I though it was good, but it was my least favorite song, then when they did it in the show and added a bunch of hiarious graphics and some extra stuff with Jemaine, it became my favorite. On the other hand, the bowie song is much better live, because the show had to make some ch-changes due to obvious legal issues (although Jemaine dressed as bowie in the different stages of his career was probably my favorite part of the entire show).

they've agreed to do a second season and so far the only song they haven't done on the show is jenny (which if they screw up will really bother me, as it's my favorite song by a long shot), so they will definitely have new material next season.

I love the deadpan lunacy of the show. There's really some inspired underplaying and bits that depend entirely on just a look.

And of course everything to do with Murray is a hoot.

Yes, I love the deadpan aspect of the show and I also love the fact that this is "innocent" humor. HBO has given us any number of original, edgy, strictly adult, series; and this one pulls off the almost impossible trick of being edgy in a PG rated sort of way. What a delight.

Dave says Fuck occasionally and a few other people sware in the show, but jemaine and bret don't. Language aside, the show is very tame compared to what HBO is known for.

PS. Murray rules, "Leggy Blonde" is amazing.

Got this a few months ago and was well worth it. Pretty much my favorite new comedy show since Curb.
