The Executioner's Song: Director's Cut

#1 Post by Fletch F. Fletch »

Wow, this one came out of the blue. Very interesting...
Paramount Home Entertainment has sent over package artwork for a director's cut (2 hour 15 mins) release of The Executioner's Song which stars Tommy Lee Jones, Rosanna Arquette, and Eli Wallach. The 1982 TV drama will be available to own from the 5th August. It will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame, along with an English Mono soundtrack. We have no word on extra material for this one right now, but we'll let you know if we hear anything.

Great film. Highly disquieting material. Astounding central performance.

135-minute version? Director's cut? Is that what the shorter version is? A bit confusing, but count me in.

There is some nudity by Rosanna Arquette inserted that was used in a European release. The running time on that version was shorter than the US television version. I'm not sure if it the longer cut with the nudity has been released before or not.

It was on commercially available (at least for rent) VHS in the mid 80's.
