Kent Mackenzie was a USC student, not a UCLA student. USC actually owns the rights to his Bunker Hill short as well.

A marvelous pair of films. Superb portraits of a lost Los Angeles, beautifully shot. UCLA Film & Television Archives recently ran it for a week, and the opening night screening had several crew members there, talking about how it was filmed on weekends and nights over a couple of years, and so forth.

It came back into the public eye largely due to Thom Andersen's including it in his marvelous "Los Angeles Plays Itself." I hope you all have a chance to see that one some day, but it doesn't exist on a legitimate DVD, and isn't likely to any time soon, as it consists largely of clips from Hollywood films. Kudos as well to Dennis Doros for Milestone's excellent releases of "Killer of Sheep" and "The Exiles," and Ross Lipman & the UCLA Film & Television Archives for restoring both for the DVDs.

The DVD release (no date announced yet since I've been busy with a restoration) will feature four short films by Kent Mackenzie including Bunker Hill, shorts on the region, tons of written documentation on the making of the film and other "stuff"
