The Liebman intro is published in the MoC book, along with a Lanzmann dissection of three key scenes.

We're racing for a Feb 2nd cut off point, which we need to meet in order to meet the Feb 19th release date.

Still got a lot of proofing to do. Waiting for checkdiscs.

Keep us up to date! This is the most important DVD release of the year so far.

So, did you make the February 2nd deadline? Is the DVD going to be out on time?

I haven't heard any news lately. Is this still on track for a Feb. 19 release date? Amazon still says it is, but I'm not sure if they're very trustworthy.

Doesn't look like it, guys. Benson's has it put back till 26th February, and they're the most reliable source for Eureka dates.

I think with amazon when something's been delayed a couple of times it just goes to "expected in 10-12 days" until they finally hear something definite.

It'll just come out when it comes out, we had the same delays with the Naruse and Keaton sets, and they were worth the wait.

For those of us living in the US and want to order this. I just purchased it from amazon.co.uk for a total of 35 pounds including shipping which should come out to about 70 dollars. A good deal for an over all great documentary.

Ironing out a few problems has cost us another week. We're hoping to have SHOAH pressed up over the weekend, but copies won't get to retailers until early March. (F FOR FAKE was finished last week and will be entering distribution channels over the next few days).

It's being replicated at the moment. We hope to have finished copies by the weekend, but it's going to be the week after when it hits shops.

Finished copies arrived a few days ago.... it's entering distribution channels now and should be on shelves by tomorrow.

Best price I've seen it for is £34.99 at amazon.co.uk

Holy cow, that looks fantastic, Nick!

Does the 5th PIG promo flyer come with the box? (I hope so.)

Fraid it doesn't come inside the box -- I only thought of the idea a week or so ago, and we had them made up quickly.

Presumably a PDF would also do the trick?

My box turned up yesterday, and it looks fabulous - I've only dipped into the book, but the detailed chapter listings (citing not just the speaker but also a precis of what they say) are worth their weight in gold to someone whose previous copy was a VHS taped off Channel Four.

I really, really appreciate it when DVD producers go that extra mile to make things user-friendly - when I reviewed this otherwise magnificent DVD of Christopher Nupen's We Want The Light (whose subject matter isn't a million miles removed from that of Shoah), my only real complaint was that the interviewees were merely indexed by name, not subject, and there was no indication of what they were discussing. Which is why I went into such detail in my review, as I thought I might as well fill the gap.

Great stuff, Peerpee. Looks like mine will be here next week now, with having to wait for them to clear to Jersey for amazon, but I can wait. I bet those that have been received have been shipped from Bensons or other such places on the mainland.

Thanks peerpee and everyone at MoC for such a good job on this release. I can't wait to get a copy of it! I would second MichaelB's comments, a precis is extremely important, especially for documentaries. I think this feature will probably become invaluable for repeat viewings at times when it is not possible to watch the entire film to find a particular story.

Have you ever seen the second disc of supplemental interviews on The Corporation MichaelB? I think that held the previous standard for me of how to present a mass of interview material. They divided their material up so the viewer could choose either a contributor or a particular subject and see all the segments relating to them.

I attempted to provide a menu option for grouping together the testimonies of each interviewee, but Lanzmann was horrified at such an idea, so we quickly dropped it.

I suppose that gets into an area of the original film being re-edited and manipulated away from the original intentions, which the filmmaker might not appreciate! I'm sure the more detailed chapter descriptions will do just fine!

I watched 45 minutes of the New Yorker version last night before giving up on it for the moment. Perhaps it was because it was late and I was tired, but it seemed rather tedious to have to wait for someone to translate the speakers, so that it was like listening to everything twice...

Hopefully I'll return to it later in the week when I have more patience.
