Keep us up to date! This is the most important DVD release of the year so far.peerpee wrote:The Liebman intro is published in the MoC book, along with a Lanzmann dissection of three key scenes.
We're racing for a Feb 2nd cut off point, which we need to meet in order to meet the Feb 19th release date.
Still got a lot of proofing to do. Waiting for checkdiscs.

Doesn't look like it, guys. Benson's has it put back till 26th February, and they're the most reliable source for Eureka dates.
I think with amazon when something's been delayed a couple of times it just goes to "expected in 10-12 days" until they finally hear something definite.
It'll just come out when it comes out, we had the same delays with the Naruse and Keaton sets, and they were worth the wait.

Presumably a PDF would also do the trick?
My box turned up yesterday, and it looks fabulous - I've only dipped into the book, but the detailed chapter listings (citing not just the speaker but also a precis of what they say) are worth their weight in gold to someone whose previous copy was a VHS taped off Channel Four.
I really, really appreciate it when DVD producers go that extra mile to make things user-friendly - when I reviewed this otherwise magnificent DVD of Christopher Nupen's We Want The Light (whose subject matter isn't a million miles removed from that of Shoah), my only real complaint was that the interviewees were merely indexed by name, not subject, and there was no indication of what they were discussing. Which is why I went into such detail in my review, as I thought I might as well fill the gap.

Thanks peerpee and everyone at MoC for such a good job on this release. I can't wait to get a copy of it! I would second MichaelB's comments, a precis is extremely important, especially for documentaries. I think this feature will probably become invaluable for repeat viewings at times when it is not possible to watch the entire film to find a particular story.MichaelB wrote:My box turned up yesterday, and it looks fabulous - I've only dipped into the book, but the detailed chapter listings (citing not just the speaker but also a precis of what they say) are worth their weight in gold to someone whose previous copy was a VHS taped off Channel Four.
Have you ever seen the second disc of supplemental interviews on The Corporation MichaelB? I think that held the previous standard for me of how to present a mass of interview material. They divided their material up so the viewer could choose either a contributor or a particular subject and see all the segments relating to them.

I watched 45 minutes of the New Yorker version last night before giving up on it for the moment. Perhaps it was because it was late and I was tired, but it seemed rather tedious to have to wait for someone to translate the speakers, so that it was like listening to everything twice...
Hopefully I'll return to it later in the week when I have more patience.
