Of course, since Foundas is on the awful NY Film Fest selection committee, he's simply offended that one of his cherished picks was sensibly ignored.

Every year, some critic takes umbrage at some foreign film or documentary has been "snubbed," as if the Oscars has ever actually made rational choices based on quality and not on a combination of perceived prestige, liberal guilt, and a sense of earned-ness. It's usually Roger Ebert, but he's obviously not well enough to uphold that time-honored tradition. Better Foundas than Ben Lyons, I guess.

Yes, the execrable (sp) Class will likely win. What's idiotic is someone writing a ginormous article about how crappy the foreign list is given that (i) it is always crappy, as others point out and (ii) Gomorrah is hardly worth getting that worked up about.

I don't know, if Waltz with Bashir is nominated I think it'll win. Previous awards (Globes, NSFC) + current Israel situation + Wall-E will get Best Animated so it has no chance there (if it even gets a nom) = Best Foreign Film.
