Good news for those interested in getting the Columbia Noir III set: my copy arrived today and not only does it come with a sturdier slipcover than the Bogart set, but it doesn't come in that awful packaging that needed instructions.

Bad news: this is no longer correct, as I received my copy of the "corrected" packaging today and it is indeed in the shitty Back to the Future packaging

I'm definitely interested in the Esther Williams movie, though I can't say I'm too familiar with the others.

Is there a comparison between the r2 Dishonored and Shanghai Express and the TCM release anywhere?

I believe the TCM release is slightly better with Shanghai Express being uncut.

Is there a best time to pre-order, or is it generally true that the pressed releases won't sell out before the release date?

Ten Cents a Dance is a distinguished early Stanwyck, if memory serves. I'd despaired of ever getting it on a pressed disc. Can't remember if I've seen any of the others.

According to New York Post's Lou Lumenick the TCM/Sony sets are offered as pressed discs only:
What I've learned exclusively are some of the other releases that will follow in this initiative, which is being issued exclusively on press discs, just like the sets TCM issued in partnership with Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

Isn't that what they said about the Douglas Sirk set as well?

That's Universal, not Sony though.

Weren't the first printing of the Sirks pressed, then they reverted to burnt? It could well be the same situation here.
