This individual may have the _capacity_ to write non-troll posts, but it seems he has little _inclination_ to do so.

It seems to be present in all versions of the film. In other words, it's built into the film, not a technical glitch in Criterion's release or something they would or could fix.

Having now been through the rest of the year's releases, I've changed several of my votes. If anyone needs to cheat for their own voting purposes, here's the answer key.

BEST BOXED SET
Zatoichi: the Blind Swordsman

BEST MODERN FILM

BEST COMMENTARY
David Kalat on To Be or Not to Be

BEST (NON-COMMENTARY, NON-ESSAY, NON-BONUS FILM) SUPPLEMENT
Christopher Frayling on Things to Come

BEST REISSUE
Richard III

BEST DISCOVERY
Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman

BEST COVER
On the Waterfront

BEST PACKAGING
Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman (the beauty of the packaging overcomes the irritation of the way it actually holds discs)

SECOND-MOST DISAPPOINTING RELEASE
3:10 to Yuma. I wound up liking this movie a lot but the supplements were thin as heck and it wasn't even at the $30 price point. This movie could easily sustain a nice scholarly commentary.

BEST THREAD
It may be self advertisement, but I was really please with how the Animation List thread turned out. Outside of that, my two picks both turn out to have been 2012 threads, but I want to rep them anyway- Dressed to Kill, Silence of the Lambs, and Trans Representations and Pakula, Coppola, and the 1970s Cinema of Paranoia are both the kind of threads that draw me most to this forum- they help me uncover meaning in my own mind, which is even more pleasant than having it uncovered for you.

This is always hard. Let's say Knives, without whom this board just wouldn't be the same.
