Never understood the fascination among people who choose to watch the Oscars begging for it to be over quicker

Then what would all the people logged onto this forum to discuss the show do? Leave the house?

Disagree entirely. Eve aside of the reason for doing it I found it very aesthetically pleasing.

This has got to be the most random collection of clips in any montage in Oscar history. I don't really mean that as a complaint, either.

Was the entire purpose of this montage the opportunity to insert Black Panther into it?

Half of the movies in that montage were terrible, but I'll be damned if montages can't make anything look cool.

That’s the only worthwhile thing about it

I thought it was to insert Office Space. Obviously everything else was just an afterthought.

I had no idea she was in Baby Driver until I looked it up (because I don't know who she is in general). She comes off as much older in that film than she actually is, and I mean that as a compliment. Didn't make that connection at all!

Why would you show an empty beach for Dunkirk, of all things for this category [Production Design]?

Because the alternative was the deck of a small boat, I guess? Maybe not a great nominee, come to think about it.

FYI Rita Moreno is wearing an altered (to be more revealing!) version of the same dress she wore when she won for West Side Story

My least favorite performance of the five nominees. There's something about Allison Janney that never works for me when she's given such hammy, tinny dialogue.

I don't begrudge Janney but Laurie Metcalf was really wonderful and it's a shame she didn't win.

Biggest shame of the night so far; Metcalf enjoyed the biggest gap between her nearest competitor of any of the big six nominees.

The laughs during Leslie Manville’s clip got me excited she could steal it. It’s lovely to hear an audience understand it as comedy, mine only amounted to uncomfortable chuckles

I'm not sure a joke can tank harder than that "robot discrimination" one just did. An audible hush.
