One would expect so since the Grindhouse crammed it down to 16GBDeprongMori wrote:This is apparently the same restoration as the 2014 Grindhouse release. Will there be anything significantly different in the encoding?

as an outsider blind buying this release, I'll stick with Indicator's version, the package seems a lot more lavish and that encoding size seems to make a real difference. shame about the doc, but can't win them all I guess - I'm assuming it would warrant a second disc if it were to be included here, or incredibly jammed on there as with the Grindhouse release

Re: 46 The Swimmer
It wouldn't need a 2nd disc. David M managed to get The Thing and hours of video extra features on single disc while still maintaing a 30 Mbps AVB for the movie. It would "simply" require the relevant extra features to be de-prioritized compared to the movie.
The issue with Grindhouse was that they didn't prioritized the movie enough (if at all) over the extra features. But 3hrs of extras could be maintained in HD at a 13Mbps AVB AND keep the movie at its 29.37Gb size (3hrs of extras at 13Mbps would be about 17 Gb) (or the movie's AVB could be slightly downgraded and the extras AVB increased to 15 Mbps - I suppose the movie's AVB has been absolutely maxed out).

Re: 46 The Swimmer
The miniscule file size of the Grindhouse disc has always bothered me, they even re-re-released it several times and never gave it more room to breathe. But it looks surprisingly good. Comparative screenshots to the Powerhouse will naturally decide the point, though.
As for extras, the Powerhouse has the advantage with the massive book, but Grindhouse has the CD soundtrack and documentary. However, after viewing this film a dozen times, and having watched all the US set, I find all the extras superfluous. I just want to experience the ambiguity and mood of the film, I don't want to hear anyone's opinion on it. The only interesting thing I want to know about its production in my opinion is the dust-up with Perry/Spiegel/Lancaster/Pollock.

Looks great. And also makes the yellowish Grindhouse look as if Lancaster has a bad case of jaundice.

The chang in color-grading (assuming this isn't down to Beaver's method of screencapturing) is indeed intriguing.

Re: 46 The Swimmer
It's not the first Grindhouse disc to have yellowly skintones vs. a more competent encode:

https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0 ... 8&i=10&l=0
Possibly they are accidentally clipping the colour by putting their discs in 601 instead of 709?

Re: 46 The Swimmer
I wasn't aware of this, only having 2 of their releases (The Swimmer and Cannibal Holocaust). It seems though that the difference is bigger here than on your 2 examples, making me think of a conscious color-correction vs differences in encodes.
I guess I'll see for myself once my test discs arrive.
