was there a tease around Long Good Friday? or did everyone decide that was a good guess

I know I should know the answer since I took over (and abandoned) my duties as speculation roundup person. but there's just so few clues nowadays ultimately

totally missed it. both slightly more left field but awesome choices

EDIT: goodness right on the page before. I'm clearly missing something. anyway I will guess Evil Does Not Exist as the Janus Contemporary title

I feel like this is never coming at this point. I can’t imagine what the hold-up would be and it’s been almost 5 years since its release.

Another one I feel is never coming, but wow do I dream of a “The Complete Arguments of Paul Dedalus” box set.

I’ve given up on Shirkers, as I saw a Q&A with its filmmaker a few weeks ago, and she made no mention of it getting a home video release. Such a shame, as it’s one of THE great hidden gems on Netflix and they keep wanting to include more films from women of color

I have renewed hope since Diop won the Golden Bear for her second film. Perhaps they’re waiting for that to be released.

I would love to see "Pratidwandi" and "Aranyer Din-Rātri" as Criterion releases. However, I have not read anywhere that these films have been restored. Neither of them was shown at the Satyajit Ray retrospective in New York City some years ago. Chances of Criterion undertaking restoration of either of these films seems to me to be remote.

All of Ray’s films have been restored or at least safely preserved by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. I saw a beautiful new 35mm print of The Adversary at TIFF some years back. Many of his films look great despite having very poor original materials, although some, like Kanchenjungha, still look pretty dire

I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who thinks this. And it’s not even the documentary itself as the footage from the original shoot showed real talent from a visual perspective. Great unsung film.

In that case someone should release "Complete Works of Satyajit Ray" with the same care that Criterion gave the Ingmar Bergman set. It is a crime that so many great works of Ray languish.

It was screened in conjunction with her short film Gourmet Baby, which would have been an incredible supplement.

Tell us about it. They’re sitting on a huge number of Fassbinder and Nagisa Oshima films, too

Not from Criterion, the film (and most, if not all, of LVT) is with MUBI.
