Pitting the imagination of common man Sam Lowry (the brilliantly befuddled Jonathan Pryce) against the oppressive storm troopers of the Ministry of Information, Terry Gilliam's Brazil has come to be regarded as an anti-totalitarianism cautionary tale equal to the works of George Orwell, Aldous Huxley, and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Gathering footage from both the European and American versions of this masterpiece, Gilliam has assembled the ultimate, 142-minute director's cut of his most celebrated film.

Release Notes on Restoration
Brazil
Brazil is presented in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. On widescreen televisions the image should fill the screen. This new high-definition digital transfer was created on a Spirit Datacine from a new 35mm interpositive, under the supervision of director Terry Gilliam. Thousands of instances of dirt, debris, and scratches were removed using MTI Digital Restoration System. To maintain optimal image quality through the compression process, the picture on this dual-layer DVD-9 was encoded at the high bit rate for the quantity of material included.
The soundtrack was mastered at 24-bit from the 35mm Dolby stereo magnetic tracks, and audio restoration tools were used to reduce clicks, pops, hiss, and crackle.
